but I finally finished my first pair of toe-up socks. Now, to be honest, there is no real reason it should have taken me 5 years to knit a pair of socks. Heck, I knit 15 shawls alone in 2012. But alas, I suffer from the dreaded SSS--Second Sock Syndrome and after I finished the first sock in 2007 (yes, folks, 2007), I started the second with all good intentions and then got distracted by ooooohhhh...new patterns....new stuff to knit....new shinies....and somewhere along the line, they got pushed in their little plastic baggy down down down into the depths of an old knitting bag filled with scraps. In a search for something else, I found the forlorn socks, just waiting to be finished (and also patiently waiting to be freed from their prison--the 2 size 0 addi turbo needles that I really really need for some other socks I want to make). Surprisingly I only had about 2 inches of cuff to go to finish them and woohoo--success tonight. Finally done.

Here's a link to them.  And psst--the best thing? They fit me perfectly.

The 5 year Toe-Up Socks

This is why I now do socks two-at-a-time. From the last pic on the project, it looks like you already work either on two circs or magic loop... adding a second sock on there is nothing.

Meanwhile, Yay! for finishing!

If you're already doing 2circs, 2aat will be cake! :) Same thing for magic loop (just make sure you have a long enough cable when you do ml)

Hurray! They look great. :D

Do you think this pattern would be good for a first pair of socks? Or if not, would you recommend a good pattern to start with?

Wow, that must be satisfying: new socks, fininishing a lingering WIP and getting needles back in the process!

Congratulations. The look warm and comfy.

I love hand-knitted socks. My MIL has made dozens of pairs, and I'm always glad to be surprised with a new pair.

I once knitted a thick pair for my dad. He loved them and he even kept them long after one of his dogs chewed one of socks beyond recognition.

If I could remember what I called my Ravelry account I'd take a look at yours!
