Ooh, help!

A friend of my mother's has a brand new granddaughter that no one was expecting. The baby is already here and they have nothing for her. Knitter to the rescue! Can you please share with me your fastest and easiest baby knits? Thanks! :D

This hat is simple and (mindlessly) fast. I've knitted the 1-2y, child, and adult sizes. I did find the 1-2y a bit smaller than advertised, so perhaps go with 3-6mo for a newborn and newborn size for a preemie?

The Elizabeth Zimmerman February baby sweater is a very quick knit--you'll memorize the lace (7 stitch repeat) fast and because it's lace it will stretch to fit the baby while he/she grows. I've made for boys and girls in a variety of yarns and needle sizes, it's a very quick knit!

It's available in a book (The Knitter's Almanac by EZ) which is only about $7.95 on Amazon, I think. Unfortunately, it's not available as a pdf.

I've had good experiences in the past with Fleegle's Seamless Saartje Booties (Ravelry), which are a seamless mod for the very popular and also fun Saartje's Bootees (Ravelry), though with far more ends to weave in.

Both are free patterns, they take less than an sock's worth of yarn total, and they knit pretty fast!

I did the I-Love-Stockinette Baby Bib really quickly for a baby who came early. I was racing, so I did it in garter, which is faster for me. Quick knit and useful!

Bloom is a fantastic, quick easy knit that takes one 200gram ball of yarn and will last a baby girl until she's four years old. I highly recommend it. So many baby clothes only last a kid a few months before they're outgrown. I made the medium size for my cousin's new baby girl, and I'll be making it again for a friend's baby, due in a few months. (The recommended wools, Woolganic Organic Merino, and Bendigo Luxury, are really awesome, too, but you can probably make it out of any wool of the same weight you have handy. Woolganic is fairly pricey, as you;d expect, and if you're not in Australia, I don't know how much the postage is for the Bendigo.)

I recently finished this heartwarmer for my about-to-be-born niece. It was very quick and easy.
