Knitting Resolutions

Hello all!

I never, ever make New Years Resolutions, but this year, I wanted to shake things up a bit. I'm not doing it the usual way, though-- I'm simply resolving to finish 10 knitting projects in 2010. They don't have to have been started in 2010, but as long as they're finished in 2010, I will be happy.

I have a tentative list of things I want to finish, along with appropriate Ravelry and Flickr links!

1. Spirogyra mitts for the Habitat for Humanity auction in February. I've started them, but I haven't taken pictures of them yet.

2. My Swallowtail Shawl, which I started during my appendectomy recovery, but didn't finish.

3. My poor Odds Scarf, which will be bequeathed to Morgan during Senior Week.

4. Fingerless gloves for Karen, which I've been promising her for years. I wound off the yarn for it yesterday, and it's drying. It'll be an experiment in knitting with handspun singles, but they're very well-balanced singles and they've been sitting in ball form for over a year, so the twist is well and properly set.

5. A pair of these for funsies, when Suzanne gives me the pattern. I have the yarn and everything!

6. This is ambitious, but I want to make this shawl this year. I have the pattern, even though I haven't been following the KAL. Again, I have the yarn I want to use for it.

I'm sure I'll want to knit some random socks and perhaps something surprising for my lady, so I'm leaving the last four spaces open! But let's see if I can do this!

Does anyone else have knitting resolutions?

Ooh, I love the mitts in #1, and the swallowtail shawl looks really lovely.

I didn't have any resolutions before, but hmmm. I'd like to knit up presents for at least three of my friends.

A variation of this scarf, this little guy, and undecided on the third.

Part of my 101 in 1001 list ( http://www.dayzeroproject.com/ ) is knitting 10 things for myself and 5 for others.

The Horray for Me gloves look great, as does the start of your Swallowtail Shawl!

My primary knitting resolution is to knit a sweater this year.

I would like to learn how to spin, because it sounds fun and will hopefully let me continue to knit in the style to which I have become accustomed.

I'd like to make some socks, too.

I just began knitting a couple of months ago, so I'm not haunted by UFOs yet. But I do resolve to knit my first socks this year.

Sorry to butt in--I just didn't realize until now that you were a new knitter! Cool! :)

I think a few of us were lured in by knitting discussions on the #dw IRC channel. :)

Your Swallowtail is looking nice already--is that Zephyr yarn? The Spyrogyra mitts sounds like they have a nifty construction. Admission: I am not that great a knitter and things like mitts are daunting for me. Maybe I'll try a pair of mitts this year, that'll be my not-resolution. :)
pinesandmaples: My hands making the rock symbol. (knitting: gloves)

Misti Alpaca that I sold her.

Mitts are stupid easy. They're just a step above mittens. If you want to do a progression, knit a pair of basic mittens. Then knit something like Fetching. Then knit a pair of mitts with fingers, ideally in worsted weight yarn. Then knit a pair of fingering weight gloves! Easy, peasy.

I was wondering if she was a Wilson Lady when I saw the Red and Black.

Haha, I can recognize Wilson colors. Tee hee!

The mitts for Karen that she mentions? This is the yarn:

Let's just say Wilson put something in the water.

I don't have resolutions so much as good intentions:
summer socks from the laceweight superwash merino I got last spring.
A sweater, maybe something liek Knitty's Miss Honeychurch, from the undyed sportweight alpaca.

house socks for spouse and self from the Paton's wool she got me for LAST major winter gifting excuse, before I had learned to knit.

Finish spouse's doubleknit balaclava/hat, 2 hat requests from kinfolks.

I've made Spirogyra twice, I love those! Very fun knit. Warning, they came out quite loose on me and I think I have big hands.

I want to make Hanami this year, or at least get a good ways through it. I have the yarn and the pattern, but I haven't done a gauge swatch yet to check needle size.

I don't have any other official knitting goals, although I'll probably knit lots of impulsive stuff from my stash.
