A Store You Might Want to Check Out If Your In the SF Bay Area

Over at [community profile] crochet I asked for recommendations of where to buy tunisian crochet hooks and was told about Lacis in Berkeley. I've driven by this store I don't know how many times and have always thought it was a bridal gown store. Boy, was I fooled! They are a lace place, with a retail store and a museum, and they also have the most impressive collection of knitting needles and crochet hooks I've ever seen in one place, including some that are works of art more than they are needlework tools.

Lacis is on the corner of Adeline and Ashby and right across the street from the Ashby BART station. For those people who, unlike me, don't mind buying off the Internet, they also have an Internet catalog to buy from. If you're in town, you might want to stop by to even just browse. It's a real treat.

I've never actually made it up to Lacis, though I have bought from them at some festivals when they've traveled down south (and an SF con or two in the 80's).

I love their stuff -- and they are very dangerous to my budget.

You can order from them online, too, but I've never actually been to their store. Sounds like a place to visit when I'm in Berkeley next spring!
