I think I have sweater fever...or am under the influence of yarn fumes

So I made my very first sweater for my niece, who is due soon. I am not sure if I am more excited about the baby or the sweater.

So as soon as I finished I was in a knitting mode of MUST KNIT MOAR SWEATERZ even though I didn't really have the yarn for the kind of sweater project I wanted to do and I had plenty of perfectly good sock yarn and sock projects I had intended to work on. But no, I *must* knit more sweaters, and I decided that knitting a hoodie for my 3-year-old nephew would be a good idea (aiming for when he turns four).

I have to finish a scarf before I can start it, because I need the needle I'm using. That's okay, I'm only a few rows away (this is deceptive, as I'm knitting the long way, but it's really only one episode of Sherlock and I'll be done. It's a garter stitch scarf.)

Anyway, I bought the yarn for a kid's sweater, and what happened? I finally started knitting the second sock I've had in my knitting bag for over a month, and now I can't stop thinking about knitting socks.

Is it yarn fumes? What? Can someone tell me?

(Note that I am not complaining, because I would like to finish the second sock and also knit a pair of socks for my mom that I promised her at Christmas.)

That sweater is gorgeous!

I often want to just knit more of whatever I'm knitting. It's a thing. I don't understand it.

That is such a adorable sweater!

Definitely sounds like yarn fumes. They're evil wee buggers like that. ;)

This is really cute! I've been looking for baby sweater patterns for a shower coming up and I think this is the winner.

There's something in the yarn and I think it's contact addictive.

How else to explain that even though I finally finished the baby blanket I was complaining about and swearing (at the time) that I'd never do anything that big again and it was socks for me all the way, that now I'm thinking about that pound of leftover yarn and how I might make a somewhat smaller blanket out of it...

Socks are addictive. I think it has something to due with the fact that you have to knit two of them to make a pair.

I used to knit all sorts of things, baby clothes, scarves, afghans, slippers, but once I started on socks, I couldn't stop.

It doesn't help that my ravelry swap partners always send me new sock yarn...and every time I go to my LYS, I come home with at least one ball of sock yarn.

I think there should be a 12 step program for Sock Addicts.

My favorite pattern for myself is Meg's Artichoke Sock Pattern.

It's so pretty and really isn't difficult after you've made the first one. I've probably made a dozen of these for myself and others.

I just use a basic rib pattern for socks I make for men. My husband likes how its snug around his ankles and foot.

I haven't had any trouble wearing them and I've made myself a half dozen pairs in different types of yarn.
