I made a thing!

I knitted a garter stitch square, then kept going until it was longer than my knitting needles, then bound off halfway and knitted a bit more to make a top flap, sewed the bottom and side seams together and... voila! A pouch to hold my knitting needles!

It even has a buttonhole! I followed the advice of the "Buttonholes are Bastards" chapter of Knitting in Plain English and ended up with something that wasn't too terrible!

If I were going to make another one, I would try knitting the pouch in the round to avoid the side seam. But considering this is My First Knit Ever I am very pleased with how it turned out.

Now that I more-or-less have the hang of knitting, I need to figure out purling.

It's exactly like knitting, except, ya know, backwards.

the best thing about Ravelry is that I can keep track of what yarns I use for each project and what the pitfalls were. For that, it is invaluable!
