HAHAHAHAHAHA, she says, having 1) spent hours recently winding a skein by hand; 2) lost a pair of addi turbo circulars (that she'd had for seven years) to Ezeiza airport security.
My favorite is the sock one. I knit socks for my dad and he once said to me very seriously, "So what does it cost to knit a pair for me yarn-wise? Something like $4?"
Mwahahahahaha. After I stopped laughing, I told him I spent a minimum of $18 on the yarn. Once I told him the length of time, he became even more appreciative.
Love this! When I knitted my first pair of socks, my partner's response was "Oh, good, you can knit me socks, and I won't have to buy any." Yeah, wait til you see the price of the wool! (Oh, and the time it takes me, waiting til the cat's asleep...)
