Argus Knitalong: Week 1

I am halfway through my second repeat of Chart A and starting to get bored. :)

Yeah, the body is pretty monotonous after a while. What kind of yarn are you using? Variegated, solid, semi-...? I'm keeping myself occupied by admiring the texture of the stitches and the subtle way the yarn I'm using shifts colors. That, and just when the chart starts to get super dull, it throws in those side decreases. LOOK OUT OMG

I should maybe get a picture or two, but that'd mean setting up the light box. Well, I should anyway. :)

Solid black. Very pretty, but not so much with the visual interest.

My previous project was a Noro Striped Scarf and that /flew/ by.

I need to construct a light box at some point...

They look fairly straightforward to do! I went ahead and bought a small one because of the yarn biz, but for photographing stuff on an occasional basis, those cardboard/paper lightboxes seem really genius.

Solid black will look really elegant when it's done! You know what must be really monotonous is Icarus. Gorgeous shawl, but huge, laceweight, and almost all done like Argus (at least from appearance). The Seraphim shawl was similar except at least it was mostly stockinette. ;)

Finished the last time through Chart A last night and started on B today. The variegated yarn is helping a lot with keeping me interested! Though I'm starting to think maybe I'll do a second one in a solid color after this. And maybe a few for Christmas presents (hey, if I start now I'm sure to have them done in time). It all depends on how the rest of the shawl goes.

The last few rows the color has been pooling--there's a big chunk of purple on one side, a small chunk of purple in the opposite corner, a tiny chunk of green in between, and varied rows everywhere else.

I've been getting about a row done each morning on the bus to work, and often one on the way home as well. I expect I'll be knitting a lot less when it warms up enough to bike to work!

I frogged mine on Friday night because I realised that I'd been getting my k2togs and my ssks the wrong way round. But it's going much faster this time, because I already know how the pattern goes, and I'm just at the end of the second repeat of chart A, so my progress picture on Ravelry is almost accurate again!

Thanks! I didn't do much at the weekend apart from watch TV and knit, and it really was a lot faster the second time round, since I had a feel for the pattern and hardly had to look at the chart at all.
