There is a scarf pattern that someone posted on their FB page and I picked it up.

I have been wanting to learn Entrelac for some time and this looked like a great simple project to start with. The pattern page included a link to Very Pink where she explains how to make this scarf in simple easy to understand terms.

Yesterday I completed the first pattern repeat for the scarf. It is loose and messy, but I get it! I understand how Entrelac works now!

And to make things even better, I get how to pick up stitches! This means that heel flaps for socks suddenly make sense to me!

I have 5 projects that I want to get done first, but this scarf will be sitting in the sidelines waiting and I have ALL these sock patterns that now do not seem so daunting anymore!

Oh, oh! That is a *gorgeous* scarf and I now want to make it so very much. And I don't have a suitable yarn in the house, gah. I've done the 'not a celebrity scarf' which involves short rows and turning, so I think I can cope with the entrelac, and oh goodness, what a beautiful thing!

Mind you, this is Not Helping with my stashbuster projects.

Entrelac is so fun to do! I recently tried the technique and accidentally made a pair of mittens. (I was just going to try a few test squares! Then I tried to do them in the round. Then I realized that the tube was mitten-sized and then there was the fun challenge to figure out if I could do the tum in the same style (yes, I could).) The double-sided pot holder I did afterwards was actually a lot more challenging since I had to figure out how to make the edges look good and how to run the yarn on the inside and how to connect the two sides so it actually stayed flat.

Anyway, that scarf looks gorgeous! Picking up stitches is fun and totally addictive. You can make so many fun things by picking up the edge stitches and knitting them!

Yay! I do enjoy entrelac - I learned for the Lady Eleanor pattern in Scarf Style. Also used Noro Silk Garden - works great.

I think there's a video somewhere on knitting backwards - makes entrelac go even faster because you don't have to turn the work as often.

Thanks for posting this! It was on my list of techniques to try but I just couldn't wrap my head around the written instructions I'd seen.
