newbie question
Nov. 14th, 2009 03:56 pmI'm getting ready to make the Star Crossed Slouchy Beret (on Ravelry). It tells me to work the first five rounds on size 10 dpn then switch to a size 11 circular needle. How does one switch needles mid-project? I just know I'm being completely obtuse...

If you were going to keep knitting with the same needle size, you'd have an empty dpn ready to go after knitting the fifth row, right?
Instead, put that empty needle down, pick up your circular needle, and put the tip into the first stitch of the round you just knit. You'll make the new stitches with the new needle, removing them from the old needles as you go. Once you get all the stitches off the first double-point, put that down, and knit the stitches off the next double-point.
Is that any help? Each hand will be holding a different size needle.
