rainne: (Knitting)

So, when I was in Houston over Christmas, I went by Knitting in the Loop (which was a great, welcoming, warm little store) and picked up this linen.

Each skein is 270 yards, for a total of 810. And I am DYING to make something absolutely beautiful with it. But I can't find a pattern that makes me happy! I think I'd like to make maybe a bag or something with it? I don't know! Maybe a hat. Something. AUGH.

Help me decide what to knit with this gorgeous linen!!! XD

EDIT to add: This is Euroflax #2 Fine/Sport weight.

Have you hit up Ravelry to see what other people have made with that yarn?

(some days it feels like I can't do anything with yarn until I consult Ravelry first. Even if I do something I didn't see there)

Oh yeah. I am quite familiar with that.

It's lovely yarn. I can see why you don't want to just pick some random thing. I myself would probably keep it unknit for petting for a good long while.

You have assigned projects? I am impressed.

At one point last summer, I did assign some yarn to items in my queue (maybe ten, I think).

But now? HA. I have over 300 patterns in my queue. And very little yarn on hand (it's all in a storage unit on the other side of the planet).

I do very little planning.

But if you have other things... just do those other things. Pet the new stuff. It'll come to you. Probably suddenly. While you're doing something that must be done. ;)

I thought I was in rough shape when my queue hit two pages. O_o (I use favourites the way that it seems most people use their queue.)

I use favorites for patterns I like but don't actually want to make. Or for just admiring a really cool specific project. :)

I go on binges with queuing. Less often, I will go through and weed stuff out. My amigurumi interest is what put me over 300 patterns. *facepalm*

That's my advice — pet and admire and show off the yarn until inspiration hits, knitting All The Other Things in the meantime.
