zcat_abroad: (spinning)
[personal profile] zcat_abroad posting in [community profile] knitting
Hi all,

Following on from [personal profile] untonuggan's post about yarn dying, I thought I'd link to my attempt to learn to spin. I'm not sure how appropriate it is to the knitting community, as I'm planning on crocheting the finished yarn, so I'm just posting the links.

How to accidentally buy a spinning wheel.

More will follow, when I get the cat off my lap!

Oh thank god, I'm not the only one.

*Goes to check if you have any good links on teaching yourself how to use a wheel when you have no prior spinning experience*

I was not going to try spinning, not at all, because I have enough trouble with stash control already. But there was this wheel sitting in the corner at an estate sale and it was so pretty and neglected and lonely...

Actually the book you mentioned in the comments on the second post turns out to have been written by the owner of a LYS I love to go to, so I definitely know where I'm going to get started. But other tips are most welcome!

My first reaction is "Knitting. You do that with yarn. You're making yarn. How is that not relevant?"

I think I might have terrible perspective, but I'd be happy to have some spinning content here!
