Am I being overly ambitious (or wasteful with my money) if I get the Try It KnitPicks set of interchangeable needles?

It would make me feel more like a Serious Knitter. (But am I a Serious Knitter? Jury's still out.)

The project I'm working on right now needs at least a 47" size 7 circular needle - I've pretty much shoved as many stitches as possible on my existing 29".

The try it sets are a great idea if you aren't sure what your needle preference (metal, wood, acrylic) is just yet. I adore my Knit Picks Options, though I've heard that they've since changed manufacturers and that the nickle plated brass needles they have now are not as pointy as the ones I have. (If someone can confirm/deny that it would be great.)

I went immediately for the full set because I knew that metal was what I wanted, but I have since bought a set of the Harmony wood tips as well. I still prefer the metal, but the wood needles are nice too. :)

I got a nickle plated needle set in July 2012 and they are gorgeous. If my Addi lace turbos are a perfect 10, these are a 9-9.5 for feel, slide, and pointiness. And then the KPs get extra credit for being interchangables and waaaay cheaper.

My needles are from March 2008 and I love them to pieces. I've been toying with the idea of getting extra sets of the sizes I use most, but I haven't yet figured out which sizes those are. :D Right at this moment it's size 6 that is being held up by a project, but I've already swiped the tips off that once to do a quick project so I end up talking myself out of duplicates.
