Heya! There were some positive comments on my feeler post about this, and a few people are eager to start once Ravelympics are over, so let's do it! Let's say we start March 1st, and then the KAL runs for as long as people are actively posting about it.
kareila suggested we do a weekly KAL progress post here in
knitting, and then everyone can share any progress, pics, etc. in the comments. I want to make sure people feel like they can ask for help whenever they like, though--not just in the weekly posts. If we tag everything with "knitalong: argus," then we should be able to find all the Q&A, progress, etc. posts.
Slow knitters--this isn't a race, so don't feel like you can't take part. I knit slowly myself. :) Even if you're still knitting after the weekly progress posts have stopped, I'm sure others will want to see your progress.
Pattern, needle, and yarn info behind the cut, for those who didn't see it the first time around.
The Argus Shawlette is available through Ravelry for $5 US. From the pattern page:
Yarn weight: Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi)
Gauge: 5 stitches = 1 inch in stockinette
Needle size: US 5 / 3.75 mm
Yardage: 320 - 350 yards (293 - 320 m)
If there's anything I've left out, let me know!

Date: 2010-02-19 09:40 pm (UTC)The pattern recommends a circular needle, 24-40" long, in case that helps anyone. (I was hoping it would work with a needle I already had, but I couldn't tell whether it would until I paid for the pattern! Luckily for me it does.)

Date: 2010-02-22 01:55 pm (UTC)I'm still working on my neice's quilt (a row and a half and two borders to go!), but I do want to participate, so you can expect me to be very slow on the updates as well.
A bit of a confession....
Date: 2010-02-27 08:53 am (UTC)I've not got very far yet, though. I kept going wrong on the set-up chart and then ripping back. (I've cast this on four times now....)
If I may make a suggestion? Write on your charts how many stitches you should have at the end of each charted row or every few rows. That way you can check more easily (the pattern only gives stitch counts at the end of each charted section).
