[personal profile] synecdochic posting in [community profile] knitting
Would anybody be interested in a lace shawl knitalong ala [community profile] dwsockclub? I've been bitten by the lace bug lately ...

There are a whole lot of shawls in my Rav favorites, but here are some of the ones I'm thinking about:

Trevi
Blosson
Tongues of Fire
Seraphim Shawl

The Seraphim Shawl is probably going to win, but if people were interested in a KAL, I'd totally be up for any of the four.

(I am also actually considering, God help me, trying to figure out a way to chart the full DW logo, site name included, into a lace chart, and then knit a square blanket/shawl with the site logo/name on all four edges. This would be because I am crazy.)

I'm potentially interested. However, the Argus shawlette is my first ever KAL, *and* my first ever lacework project. So it may not be worth waiting for me!

If you're trying to chart lace, you might want to try to find a copy of Creating Original Hand-knitted Lace by Margaret Stove. It has a lot of useful advice and how-to information. I got it to help me with my own crazy idea for a lace project: a stargate shawl.

Anyway, whether I'd participate in a KAL would depend on when it starts. Right now I have too many other projects on the needles, but right now I also have a lot of free time in which to finish projects, so... maybe?

oh man where has BLOSSOM been all my life? I love tiny repeats lace, it gives an allover textural / airy look I can't get enough of.

I have a shawl (not lace - Citron) on the needles at the mo (it'll be the third shawl I knit FOR MYSELF this winter, haha) and then I srsly need to get cranking on a baby blanket before my BFF pops, but... I am tempted anyway.

I love Tongues of Fire. But I'm already not finishing the shawl I'm working on now. :-(

I'm enjoying the one in [community profile] knitting right now, but I don't think I'd have time to do them often. (This one is exciting because it's the first time I've done lace!)

The DW logo would be cool, in a knitting- and DW-obsessed sort of way. :>

Shouldn't, probably. . . but yeah, interested. I like the Seraphim Shawl, but I might be tempted to try the Icarus Shawl by the same designer. Given that I haven't done anything of that complexity and sheer bloody size, I might be quite mad, too.

Probably wouldn't try knitting the DW logo. . . but if you manage to design the shawl with the gate addresses in it - or Cammie's Return to Sender socks, I'd give it a go!

I confess I have a semi-abandoned Icarus shawl on needles.

I should probably go through my works-in-progress and honestly evaluate which. . . aren't actually in progress. *sigh* On the other hand, the spinning class I took actually motivated me to learn to spin yarn, so I'm hoping a lace KAL might do the same.

Personally I like either of the last two, but it would depend when it starts. I already have Adamas on the needles, and it is not coming along quickly...

Alas, I too can't do anything if it's not a free pattern. I'm utterly skint. And also, I have a Hex shawl (from Fall 2009 Knitty) on the needles, and only half-way done, among other projects such as Knitty's Sunday Swing socks (under half of one done so far...), I'm doing a Dalek Knit-Along (the Extermiknit! pattern), I've got a Moebius Scarf commission half-done, and then I need to think about three other commissions on the waiting list...

I have laceweight yarn, I have needles, I am totally intimidated by actually casting on a stole. I would love to do it, and group support might get me there.

I'd sign up!

especially if we knit the Trevi. That is just stunning, and one of the more beautiful geometric patterns I've seen.

I bet yes. We've also got an Argus Shawlette knitalong going right now--started Monday. :) That's a pretty, and fairly straightforward (so far), lace pattern.

EDIT: Also, Seraphim is a great pattern. That was my first lace shawl. :-D Miriam Felton's patterns are written really well!

Oooh, I like the Seraphim shawl. Trying to stick to free patterns, though. Also, I've got to finish the various commissions I'd promised first, in good conscience. Also also, I seem to be in a stranded/doubleknit colorwork phase right now. I am forcibly restraining myself from DW-logo scarves and hats.

I would be all about the Seraphim, if it wasn't a triangular shawl. But I am totally going "OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH" for the Tongues of Fire. YUM.
