Did I ask you if it was maybe a charts vs. written thing? I can't remember. Some people strongly prefer one over the other.

I don't think it's chart-related. It seems to be more down to a moment's inattention when actually knitting, leading to dropped stitches, misplaced YOs, or whatever. Basically, I'm not yet good enough to knit on 'automatic' but that doesn't stop me from trying!

How about you? Do you have a preference?

Yeah, I really do! I seem to understand charts way better, maybe because I'm more pictorially-oriented? IDK. There was a big discussion on a laceknitting list a few months ago about people who need charts or written instructions, and it was pretty interesting. There were some neuroatypical folks with a variety of situations who really required written-out instructions, but since charts are popular nowadays and take up less room on a page, publishers are going with those almost exclusively.
