[personal profile] closetedfangirl posting in [community profile] knitting
Hi everyone!

Some of you already have been here for a bit and posting, but I thought that now with Open Beta, we probably would start seeing a greater influx of members. (Knitters are going to eventually take over the world, after all, y/y?) Anyway, that being said...if you're new here, welcome! :) And if you've been here all along, thanks for sticking around :) I think everyone is slowly getting their bearings around the awesomeness that is DW.

So, just a few things...
  1. First and foremost, be kind to each other. I'll be honest and say that I've written this mostly as a formality and am not really worried about there being any issues. I do have this preconceived notion of knitters being awesome people and all... (However, [personal profile] damned_colonial  and I will play the big bad mods if we have to. We just don't want to. Please don't make us.)
  2. Photos are welcome -- and encouraged! To be considerate of everyone's reading pages though, please put them under a cut.
  3. Please use tags! I think the best way of doing this is by project type...so if you're posting about your socks currently on the needles, use "socks". Pretty self-explanatory. Then, if later on down the road, someone else wants to knit up a pair of fabulous socks...or mittens...or a sweater, they can easily find them all as they decide on what pattern they might want to knit up :)

I think that about does it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or by private message :)

Again, welcome, and HAPPY KNITTING!! :)

Hullo! I'm new to the community (to Dreamwidth in general, actually, hence the no-posts-in-the-journal, only-one-icon thing; I promise I'm not a sockpuppet/troll/whatever!) and didn't see any posts like this, so I just wanted to check and see if it might be alright:

Every year the Special Olympics needs a huge number of scarves donated, and I thought it might be a nice suggestion of a project for anyone not invested in anything right now and looking for something to do, yarn-wise. And I figure a lot of people haven't heard about it, because the only reason I know about it is my housemate's younger siblings participate in the games.

Anyway. Long comment is long. Here is the link to the project details (you know, for not-sockpuppety authenticity), and the tl;dr version is: Are posts about things like this okay/would it be alright if I made a post about it in the next couple of days? I can include pictures of/the pattern for the scarf I'm making for it, if that's necessary. :)

Actually, I just stumbled across the "charity" tag. Duh, self.

(I am just nervous about being the new person and making a horrible impression on my first go. Kindly ignore me as hard as you can.)
