So, my desk lamp of quite a few years just died on me. It seems to me that since I do a lot of my knitting at my desk, this would be a good time to invest in a lamp that will actually help me see my stitches better. Any suggestions on what would be the best type of lamp to get?

Thanks!

I am a fan of the Ott lights that JoAnn's and others sell in teh U.S. Bright, clear, full-spectrum light, and I can see everything with them.

I bought one of the simple, folding-rectangle Ott lights on sale years ago -- husband appropriated it, and pretty soon we had them in almost every room. I still prefer the simple rectangular upright to all the fancy ones, altho I have a couple of the floor-model gooseneck ones too. A bulb lasts a long time, and my elderly parents also loved them.

Some came from JoAnn, some from Tuesday Morning or office supply stores. Prices for the same model are all over the place, be sure to check froogle.com and/or use coupons.

I just got a pocket-sized folding battery one that's living in my purse for color matching in shops with awful lighting.

I confess that I saw the subject line and thought "Why would anyone knit a lamp? Wouldn't it just catch on fire?"

*facepalm*
