What's a yarn swap?

Pretty much what it sounds like. Everyone picks something from their stash & swaps it! Rules vary. It's a fun way of experimenting with yarns that you'd never buy yourself. At least, that's what I hope to use them for; somehow I keep getting yarns that are exactly to my taste! Hee.

How will you deal with people participating from different continents? I don't want to be stingy but I want to make sure I'm not spending loads on shipping to the US only to find that someone sent me yarn from Europe or even inside the UK...
