Oct. 12th, 2009 06:24 pmI'm very much a newbie at this, so hopefully the more experienced among you can help me out.
I'm planning on making Fetching for my next project. I made a practice glove using some scrap acrylic that I had in my house and it turned out pretty well, so I'm ready to take the plunge and spend some money on decent yarn. (This will be my second "good yarn" project and my first didn't turn out very well, so I'm a little nervous.)
The suggested yarn is Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran [55% Merino Wool, 33% Microfibre, 12% Cashmere; Approx. 98yd/89m per 50g ball], but I'm absolutely in love with this organic merino wool I found on etsy.
So...will it work? I'm thinking one skein of the worsted weight should do it. I should mention that I'm planning on making the gloves longer by adding two more cable rows at the bottom and one (or maybe two) at the top, and making the thump a row or two longer, so maybe I should bump it up to two skeins? I'm so lost when it comes to picking which yarns will work best with which projects and I really don't want to spend $20 on yarn that won't be right. Thoughts?
