izzy: man about to smash an electric guitar over his head ([frames] doesn't make no sense at all)

so i'm making the ringwood gloves, and i seem to be having issues with the main stitch pattern, which goes like this:

Round 1: Knit.
Round 2: [K1, p1] to end.
Round 3: Knit.

however, the photos on knitty look (to me) like round 3 isn't being worked at all, and we're just supposed to work rounds 1 and 2 over and over.

i've knitted up a few rounds the way the pattern tells me to, and it doesn't look like the photos. it just looks like i have an extra K row in there.

has someone else made these? how did you do it? even if you didn't, what do you think, o hive mind? am i just being a total idiot for some reason? i've had a look on ravelry, and i can't find anyone who's having my particular crisis. and i don't really want to go any further until i figure this out, because i'm supposed to be placing the thumb gusset now, and i'm about to smash my knitting a la pete townshend, argh.

I've made these (project page at Ravelry) and I used the three row stitch pattern.

I think it's really going to depend entirely on how short or long the color repeat in your yarn is for what effect you get out of the stitch pattern.

It looks to me that the photos have two rows of knitting inbetween the row of K1,P1. So maybe it's your gauge? If your gauge (or yarn weight) is different from that in the photo, it might explain why it looks different. But in the pink gloves in the knitty pics, I definitely count two rows of knit.

Just remember, it's always ok to a) deviate from the pattern and b) rip it out and try again!

I made these a couple of months back in a solid black. It is definitely a three row repeat, and the fabric does 'settle' the further it gets from your active round, if that makes any sense.

I made these last year, and I definitely used the three-row stitch pattern - my Ravelry project page.

I think it's just a matter of getting a few further rows along, and then the stitches look more like you're expecting them to look.
