The sock yarn is Lana Grossa Meilenweit Mega Boots Stretch (wow what a mouthful).
Print o' the wave: yeah, that's a possibility... though I'm actually starting to learn that I don't much like knitting that's complex enough to need a chart. It don't find it relaxing. So my idea of a good time is a simple repeat that I can keep in my head. Stuff like feather and fan really calls to me, but anything much more complicated just gives me a big dose of the "meh".
In my case I CO 7, row 1 is k2 yo k1 yo k1 yo k1 yo k2, row 2 is k2, purl to last 2, k2. The rest should be fairly straightforward from there, but let me know if you need more details. I am mixing up sections of plain, textured as in that pattern, and yo k2tog in varying widths, to save myself from having to count rows.
(TBH, in retrospect I probably should have CO 9 and done k2 yo k2 yo k1 yo k2 yo k2, because I'm off by one on the textured and YO rows and I have to fudge in a plain stitch at the end of each section, but it's not really visible and it doesn't bother me, so *shrug*.)
