Via @gloss, check this out: Cowichan First Nation knitters investigated as a security threat for Vancouver Winter Olympics. I'm used to all the knitting-on-airplanes discussion about pointy needles omg, but this is ... different :-/

It sucks that the Mounties are going after the knitters, but... I have a hard time seeing the problem with using the sweater design. If it's being acknowledged as a Cowichan design, that seems fine. Isn't knitting about using different patterns and techniques from all over? Lots of people knit fair isle even if they aren't from a little Scottish island, and it's well known that the technique and style originated there. Are Cowichan sweaters different?

I'm biased because I own a Cowichan-style sweater that I got at a garage sale and love even though it seems to be acrylic, and would like to knit one in wool.
