I did it!! My very first pair of socks! That actually fit! (I am not counting the crochet ones that are like humongous mukluks I wear around the house.)
I'm a big fan of Cookie A, but most of her socks are top down and not toe up (reading the rest of your comments below...)
There's a ton of stuff on Ravelry, though, if you're on there. Lots of things that are free, or I also like to just browse around and then try to mimic something I see myself if the pattern is unavailable.
I've heard of her! Nothing but good things so far. And yeah, I'm on Ravelry, but it's getting kind of hard to see patterns in all the multi-colored socks they're producing these days. I'm the kind of gal who either wants people to notice the color? Or notice the design. Combining both means you do each a bit of a disservice, I think.
I really do need to try another pair top-down, at some point. Now that I'm familiar with the toe-up, being able to do the same thing in a different manner means I would start to understand a little more about how everything comes together, you know?
